Status:
Hurricane Erin remains a Category 2 storm with sustained winds of 105–110 mph. Its center is more than 200 miles east-southeast of Cape Hatteras, NC, moving north-northeast.

Impacts:
North Carolina (Outer Banks): Highway 12 closed by flooding. Ocracoke Island isolated; >2,000 people evacuated by ferry. Dozens rescued from rip currents.

Mid-Atlantic & Northeast: Coastal flood alerts in New Jersey, Delaware, Long Island. Waves 7–12 ft expected; Cape Cod may see up to 13 ft.

Public Safety:
Beaches remain closed. Authorities warn of life-threatening surf and rip currents through the weekend.
